The International Dental Show (IDS) is over for another year and we’ve just about recovered. Over 2305 exhibitors from 59 different countries gathered in Cologne, Germany to share the most exciting new developments in the dental industry. We wouldn’t have missed it for the world and over 155,000 international trade visitors felt the same.

Visiting IDS is a must for anyone as passionate as we are about the future of the dental industry and this year there was more innovation and a wider product range than has ever been available on display.

We exhibited with Core3dcentres and Dental Direkt, our global digital partners. Core3dcentres have recently joined forces and are now able to provide even better support to dental laboratories and dentists who want to provide the highest levels of patient care. Both companies plan to jointly develop pioneering digital solutions and IDS was the perfect opportunity to announce our shared aim to offer dental laboratories and dentists powerful synergies for successfully chiseling out their future digital success. 

IDS offered a wide range of lectures and presentations throughout the week and we were delighted to be able to present an amazing selection of guest speakers on our booth. These included Dr Sjoerd Smeekens and Dr Erik-Jan Muts, and Dr Christian Coachman gave a very special presentation live on our booth, where we were able to give Elvis his smile back using Digital Smile Donation…

Our hospitality event on the Thursday night was the party to be at. We’d like to thank everyone for coming and making it a night to remember!

With the widest range of new technologies, materials and techniques on display, what’s the one thing we just cant stop talking about? 3Shape’s latest launch was definitely one of the most exciting moments of this years show. The new TRIOS® 3 wireless option connects via Wi-Fi to laptops and to the TRIOS® cart, which eliminates the need for a connecting cable attached to the scanner wand and your computer.

Perhaps the most exciting announcement for us was the launch of the new multi-layer zirconia material by our digital partners Dental Dirket. Monolithic materials, such as Crystalite and Opalite have transformed the restorations we create by combining accuracy, strength and translucency and this new launch is most aesthetic yet.  

Multi-layer zirconia offers a flowing colour gradation from cervical to incisal, achieving a natural translucency gradient.
